Vanderbilt's Jeffery Taylor has been chosen as the StatSheet SEC Player of the Week for the week ending February 6th. StatSheet's SEC Freshman of the Week goes to Anthony Davis from Kentucky. Also, Alabama's Andrew Steele has received StatSheet's SEC 6th Man of the Week.
Taylor was the best in the SEC in scoring (21.5 pts per game). He also put up 50% shooting and 6 rebounds per game. The Vanderbilt senior played well in losses to Arkansas and Florida.
Taylor contributed 18 points and 6 rebounds in 37 minutes in an 82-74 loss to Arkansas. That was followed by a team-leading 25 points plus an additional 4 steals in a 73-65 loss to Florida.
This is the second StatSheet SEC Player of the Week award for Jeffery Taylor. He has also been named a runner-up more than once and received multiple honorable mentions. The runner-up this week is senior JaMychal Green from Alabama. Honorable mention goes to Alabama junior Tony Mitchell. The highest ranking player from Florida was Kenny Boynton who finished 12th.
StatSheet SEC Freshman of the Week: Kentucky's Anthony Davis
Anthony Davis averaged 29 minutes of playing time while starting both games for Kentucky. His averages in both scoring (20.0 pts per game) and blocked shots (7.5 per game) led all SEC freshmen. In a 69-44 waxing of Tennessee, Davis led all scoring and rebounding for the Wildcats with 18 and 8 respectively. Following that in a massive 86-52 win over South Carolina, he led all scoring with 22 points and also put up 8 blocked shots.
Amazingly, Anthony Davis has won the StatSheet SEC Freshman of the Week 6 times. Our own Bradley Beal gets runner-up. Honorable mention goes to Nick Jacobs from Alabama.

Andrew Steele, a sophomore and a 6-4 guard, played 32 minutes during a single game for the Crimson Tide. In a close 69-67 win against Ole Miss, Steele got 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
This is the first time this season that Andrew Steele has won the StatSheet SEC 6th Man of the Week. Eddie Ludwig, a junior forward from LSU, is runner up. Demarco Cox, a sophomore center from Ole Miss, receives honorable mention. Florida has one StatSheet SEC Player of the Week win this season.
